BARLOW, Francis. A Sett of Prints of Hunting, Hawking & Fishing, [n.p., n.d., but after 1671]. Oblong 4 (228 x 291mm.), all engraved with title and 12 plates by Wenceslas Hollar and Gaywood after Barlow, all signed in the plate, the plates divided into two series both numbered 1 to 6, each with an engraved heading and explanatory quatrain (some light spotting), 19th-century half morocco, gilt fillets and lettering (one board edge chipped).
OF GREAT RARITY, this is "one of the first of the long line of British illustrated sporting books" (Hodnet Francis Barlow p. 106). The 12 plates had previously been published under the title Severall Ways of Hunting, Hawking and Fishing in 1671. The last three have as their subject "Angling", "River fishing" and "Salmon fishing". W & S p. 23; Petit 149.
