BARETTI, Giuseppe Marc' Antonio. A Journey from London to Genoa, through England, Portugal, Spain and France. London: for T. Davies and L. Davis, 1770. 4 volumes, 8°. (Title of vol. I tipped onto front free endpaper, title to vol. III torn and stained at inner margin, spotting.) Contemporary tree calf (recased with new endpapers, spines blackened, joints cracked). Third edition. A rewritten version of Baretti's Lettere familiari a' suoi tre fratelli (Vol. I Milan, 1762; vol. III Venice, 1763), though with little content on Italy itself. As the preface makes clear, the work was suggested to Barreti by Samuel Johnson. cf. Pine-Coffin 7601.
