The following lots were both written by Captain Sir Edward Berry (1768-1831) to Captain Ralph Willett Miller (1762-1799) immediately after the Battle of the Nile [2nd and 3rd August, 1798]. Berry was Captain of Nelson's Flagship Vanguard, and Miller, Captain of Thesus. Both letters were used by Sir N.H. Nicolas for his book Nelson Dispatches [Vol III], and his pencilled references and the date '1844' are still clearly visible
