Baume & Cie. was founded in 1834 in Les Bois by Louis Victor and Pierre Joseph Célestin Baume as "Baume Frères". The firm specialized in the production of English-style watches and contributed to the development of watchmaking in Le Bois.
In 1844 Baume Frères opened a branch in London, first under the name of Baume Brothers and then Baume & Co. The firm participated at various exhibitions and won numerous awards. They also became the marketing agent for Longines in England.
The pendant of the present watch is stamped F.T. for Fred Thoms, renowned for his exceptional cases which he supplied to the best English watchmakers for their most prestigious pieces.
