BEARZI, Giovanni Battista -- Jakob BADER. Bücher-Auktion. Verzeichniss der hinterlassenen wertvollen Bibliothek weiland des Herrn Abbi Joh. Baptist Ritter von Bearzi ... welche den - [date left blank] 1854 ... öffentlich... versteigert werden. Vienna: Jakob Bader, 1854.
Small 8o (187 x 124 mm). Original printed wrappers; in grey cloth case.
In a printed note in the beginning of the catalogue Bader encourages the en bloc sale of the entire library, which took place on January 20, 1855 according to a note on the front wrapper, presumably in the hand of Bader, the auctioneer and compiler of the catalogue. The Paris bookseller Edwin Tross bought the collection for 20755 francs, 30 centimes (see lot 588 in the French section). The most significant feature of Bader's catalogue is the separate listing of 1,003 lot Aldine books in the Bearzi collection, an impressive number compared to the approximately 1500 works recorded by Renouard in his third edition of 1834. Nothing is known about Abbi Bearzi's biography, a represent of the Pope and the King of the Two Sicilies at the court of Vienna, apart from the information given in the Bader and Tross auction catalogues. VERY RARE.
