FIRST EDITION. A famous hoax, in which two of Beringer's colleagues (J. Iganz Roderick and Johann Georg von Eckhart) manufactured the fossils and planted them around Mount Eibelstadt in the neighbourhood of Wrzburg, where Beringer subsequently uncovered them. Nissen ZBI 330; Norman 195.
