SECOND FOLIO EDITION OF KING JAMES'S BIBLE, also known as the 'Great She Bible' for the more correct reading 'she went into the citie' in Ruth iii 15. A remarkable error nevertheless occurs in Matt. xxvi 36, where 'Judas' appears for 'Jesus.' A large number of leaves, about one third of the total, are known to exist in two states. No new English translation was produced until the Revised Version of 1881 and the Authorised Version, the work of over 40 translators divided into five committees based at Oxford, Cambridge and London, undoubtedly had a greater influence on written and spoken English than any other book.
