(15 x 9 1/4 in.), contemporary pigskin over boards, covers tooled in blind to a panel design with outer borders and central panel of oak leaf and acorn roll-tools, inner roll-borders of Biblical figures, titles ("Biblia" and "Die Propheten") tooled in black above the central panels on upper covers, brass cornerpieces (four lacking), vol. 2 with two brass fore-edge clasps, edges stained green, rebacked, worn, three covers detached, tightly bound, lacking final blank leaf, numerous repairs to lower margins particularly in vol. 1, just catching woodcut borders to vol. 1 title and portrait, approximately 15 leaves with repaired holes or tears affecting a few letters, some worming to vol. 1 and to last few leaves of vol. 2, New Testament title border and a few woodcuts somewhat abraded, woodcut device at end defaced and repaired, browning, some dampstaining and marginal soiling. Gothic type, woodcut fraktur initials, three titles (general title, Prophets and New Testament) within historiated woodcut borders, the first two printed in red and black, woodcut portrait of Christoff Duke of Würtemberg within allegorical border, 144 woodcut illustrations (most 106 x 153mm., a few larger), including a few repeats, printer's device at end, the woodcuts, borders and device colored.
