    Lot Essay

The Vogue shaped proved unpopular due to its wide flaring shape, which rapidly cooled and the solid handle which proved awkward to handle. Clients complained that they could not hang the cup from a hook due to its solid handle! Although Shelley relented, producing the same shape with an open handle, the Vogue cups with the solid handle have proved an icon of British Art Deco design
