BOOK SATCHEL, cuir ciselé and cuir bouilli. Probably North Italian, early 16th century
85 x 65 x 25 mm. Black leather, hardened and cut, the case and lid decorated with a design of leaves, the foliage and initials in relief against a punch-dotted ground, the sides with strapwork design and slots formed for carrying (the strap is modern). Provenance: purchased from Blumha Gallery, 21 June 1956, whose typed slip refers to it being in the Fuerst Liechtenstein collection.
