A fine selection of the Bowles's engravings of London. The two maps are A Plan of London as in Q. Elizabeths Days... London. Sold by John Bowles. with integral views, and A Pocket Map of the Cities of London. Westminster. & Southwark. with the Addition of the new Buildings to this Present Year 1727... Sold by John Bowles. The four plates of the palaces appear to have originally been a single large plate; they show St.James', Kensington, Hampton Court and Windsor. The majority of the work consists of fine perspective views of the principal buildings and bird's-eye views of the main squares. There is a single view of Blenheim, followed by the final view of Eddystone lighthouse. D. Loggan, H. Terasson and Sutton Nicholls are given as the engravers to a few plates, but the majority of the views remain unsigned. Cf. Berlin Kat. 2335
