Voluptés de Paris -- Pleasures of Paris. Paris: Paris-Publications, no date but 1932. Folio (270 x 210mm). 38 black and white photographs. Original ring binding with orange card covers and white plastic rings (one ring broken but present). Provenance: contemporary Parisian bookseller's small ticket on inside cover.
FIRST EDITION. A VERY GOOD COPY. Voluptés de Paris collects the edgier, 'secret' aspects of the nocturnal vision of Paris for which Brassaï became so well known. Originally intended as a companion volume to Paris by Night (1933), Brassaï never acknowledged the work because of a contractual dispute, and many of these images were only published under his name in 1976 in The Secret Paris of the Thirties. The Photobook, vol. I, p.134; Regards à travers le livre 61.
