Accompanied by Breguet Certificat No. 4050 dated 14 April 1991 confirming production of the present watch with initials of Captain Peter Belin.
The original owner of the watch, Captain Peter Belin, had inherited an important collection of antique pocket watches from his father Ferdinand Lammot Belin (1881-1961).
As the Secretary to the Minister of the United States Legation in Beijing, Lammot Belin acquired a large number of watches during the dissolution of the last Chinese dynasty. The famous "Belin Collection" comprising nearly 200 watches was sold at Sotheby's London on 29 November 1979.
Captain Peter Belin, also known as Ferdinand Lammot Belin Jr., was an
Admiral of the US Navy. As a student he travelled on the Hindenburg from Europe back to the US and survived the zeppelin's crash in Lakehurst, New Jersey, on 6 May 1937.
