Although precise quantities are not known, it is acknowledged that very few Short chairs were produced by Isokon. This example was purchased in 1939, on the occasion of the marraige of the present owner's parents, from the progressive furniture retailer, Wolfeson's in Leeds. As intended by the chair's designer, a padded cushion was fitted to the chair. In this case, the cushion was covered with a woven beige/brown checked fabric, as illustrated in the reproduction from the family album. In the late 1950s Heal's of London undertook the repairs to the front supports of the chair, and made the black-leather seat cushion now present.
