A collection of surveying and other instruments, comprising:
(i) A fine English early 20th-century lacquered brass air-flow meter, by Negretti & Zambra London No 1216, further marked on the base Lowne's Silver Medal Air Meter, the silvered dial raised on 3 turned brass pillars and graduated 0-100 Feet, with subsidiary dials for HDS', THDS', 10THDS', 100THDS' and MILLNS', driven by an 8-bladed aluminium fan, the base threaded for the mounting bracket, in a fitted mahogany case with brass handle, printed label with manuscript insertions pasted inside cover: 'International Inventions Exhibition Awarded Silver Medal. Correction for Air Meter No. 1216 Add 30 per minute to the observed reading of the Air Meter' (paint slightly chipped on fan struts, crack on base of case) -- 8.5cm. high
(ii) 4 drawing sets: an English late 19th/early 20th-century set, signed W.H. Harling ... 47 Finsbury Pavement, London, the brass-bound mahogany case and lift-out fitted tray containing brass and steel compasses, dividers and pens, some with ivory handles, an ivory sector and parallel rule, and other items (some instruments by other makers, a few lightly oxidised, lacking a few items) -- the case 36.4cm. wide; the second, a French, late 19th-century set, unsigned, the mahogany case and lift-out fitted tray containing brass and steel compasses, dividers, pens, an ebony parallel rule, and a brass protractor (instruments slightly oxidised and incomplete, tray lip detached, case lacking keyhole surround) -- the case 21.5cm. long; the second, a 20th-century set, signed N&G and numbered H190, the leather-covered fitted case containing nickel-plated compasses and dividers (incomplete, a few items supplied from other sets, case slightly damaged) -- the case 24cm. long; the third, an English early 20th-century set, signed Stanley Great Turnstile Holburn London, the plush-lined fitted mahogany case containing nickel-plated compass pointers, a pen and a pencil (lacking one piece) -- the case 11.7cm. long.
(iii) An early 20th-century nickel-plated double-sided circular slide rule, marked on the dial Halden's ''Calculex'', the index pointers rotating over concentric scales, suspension loop, and Rules, Tables and Formulae for Patent Circular Slide Rule .... (Manchester, London, Newcastle [etc.]: [no date]), both contained in a fitted leather-covered case (mechanism defective and slightly damaged, case lightly rubbed, catch defective) -- 6.2cm. diameter, and a military-pattern bakelite prismatic compass with aluminium covered stencilled A, signed cxn, defective -- 7cm. long
(iv) A small Czechoslovakian early 20th-century postal balance, unsigned, with articulated action, one scale graduated 0-½ ounces and the second ½-4 ounces -- 14.5cm. high, and a small gas burner, the brass cylinder filled with wadding covered by a screw-on lid, the brass jet held over the wadding by a clip and fed by a short length of rubber tube (rubber perished and tube broken) --12.5cm. high (9)
