4 parts in one volume, 2° (362 x 253mm). Title with vignette illustration, introductory leaf, and 40 HAND-COLOURED PLATES each with facing explanatory page of text, all lithographed by Nimmo. One page letterpress list of subscribers, with one name added in manuscript. (First word and most of imprint neatly removed from title, without titles to second, third and fourth parts, occasional very light spotting.) Contemporary red calf, elaborately tooled in gilt and blind (scuffed, joints weak and slightly split). Provenance: Gilmore of Lundin and Montrare (armorial bookplate).
VERY RARE (112 subscribers are listed), originally issued in four parts, each with ten plates and accompanying text. It is not clear whether or not titles are required for each part. Great Flower Books p. 70; Dunthorne 19.
