'Bruin', a fine Steiff teddy bear
with bright golden mohair, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, boot button eyes, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs, felt pads, hump and button in ear --28in. (71cm.) high, circa 1906 (head, feet and hands slightly faded, foot pads with holes to toe, very slight sparse plush to top of head and lower back)

Purchased for the original owner from Griffin and Spalding Department Store, Nottingham. The owner was born in 1899, and was given the bear when she was six or seven years old.
