Another copy, 310 x 212mm. (12 13/16 x 8 3/8 in.), contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards, covers with a central panel divided into lozenges and traingular compartments by triple fillets, small six-petaled flowers at intersections, the outer frame with repeated fleur-de-lys lozenge tools and round floral tools, remains of two brass clasps, edges plain, pastedown endpapers from a fourteenth-century breviary; the tools not identifid in Kyriss or Schwenke-Sammlung, upper cover stained, lower cover rubbed, lower outer joint split, title soiled, small repairs to gutters of title and A2, one fore-border of double-page woodcut cropped, areas of the paper of A4, A5 and E5 abraded, affected text strengthened in modern ink, edges of first few leaves frayed, marginal tears or repairs to about 18 leaves, severe browning to quire V, a few other leaves with minor discoloration or light foxing, some mostly marginal dampstaining, marginal soiling.
Provenance: Three pages of notes in a contemporary German hand on verso of final blank leaf and following flyleaf, giving recipes; a few contemporary marginalia, those in book 3 noting applications for the various waters; inscription in lower margin of OO4: "Ce livre appartien a Gauthier Sarrelouis 19 Septempre 1524"; Juan Carlos Ahumada, bookplate; the present owner.
