AN UNRECORDED EARLY ISSUE OF A RARE GERMAN PUBLICATION FEATURING REDUCED VERSIONS OF ALL THE ORNITHOLOGICAL PLATES FROM BUC'HOZ'S PUBLICATION Centuries de planches enluminées et non enluminées published in Paris between 1775 and 1781. Anker, Great Flower Books and Nissen give the publication date of this work as 1785, in addition Nissen's transcription of the title varies from the present title. This copy therefore appears to be an early issue not known to the standard bibliographies. The French edition included subjects from the animals, birds, plants and minerals. No copy of either the 1784 or 1785 issue of this German selection, with plates by Winterschmidt after Desmoulins's originals, is listed as having sold at auction in the past twenty-five years. Cf Anker 73; cf. Fine Bird Books (1990) p.82; cf.Nissen IVB 157.
