Aldine 8o (159 x 100 mm). Italic type. Woodcut dolphin and anchor device (Fletcher 6 and 3) on title and two colophons, 5 full-page woodcut illustrations and two double-page woodcut maps, initial spaces with guide letters. (Some dampstaining at beginning and end, dark marginal stain to corners of q8-r2.) Later vellum. Provenance: Richard Heber, sale, Evans part VII, 28. May 1835 lot 996 (group lot); "From Mr. Hebers Library - June 1835, given to William Lowther(?) by his grandfather Lonsdale" (ownership inscription on front free endpaper).
Second Aldine edition, after the first of 1513. The text reproduces the the same preface by Aldus and the architect J. Jucundus, and the same woodcuts are used. Here the index is dated 1519, indicating that it is of the later date. Adams C-29; Ahmanson-Murphy 163; Renouard 88.11.
