Letterpress title, advertisement leaf, contents leaf, 17 leaves text, three double-page hand-coloured tables. 46 hand-coloured engraved double-page maps, most with letterpress surrounds (including 28 state, territory or district maps and 7 maps of the islands of the West Indies, 2 uncoloured double-page comparative plates, one of world mountains, a second of the rivers. (Occasional light browning, most maps with small tears, generally at the fold, some neatly repaired.) Modern old-style black half straight-grained morocco, the flat spine gilt.

The state maps are mostly after F.Lucas jr. and include the various counties delineated by different colours, the text surrounding them includes interesting details of the latest available population figures, brief histories, current and past politicians, climate and natural features.
