The Villa Primavesi in Vienna (pictured here) is a masterpiece of Jugendstil architecture designed between 1913 and 1915 by Josef Hoffmann, one of the founding fathers of the Viennese secession. Hofmann's lucid articulation of the facade is boldly off-set by the monumental carvings by Anton Hanak commanding the pediments. The following four works were acquired in the 1920s for the collection of the Villa Primavesi and have remained in the same family's possession since then. Carl Moll, represented here by two works, was among the many members of the Viennese intelligentsia entertained at the Villa Primavesi in the 1920s.
