An account of the expedition of the Southern Cross to determine the location of the Southern Magnetic Pole. Borchgrevink and his crew spent a year living in Antarctica and contributed significantly to knowledge of the continent. Rosove 45.A1.a; Taurus 24.

Frontispiece portrait and 75 plates, 3 coloured. (One plate partially detached, slight browning of page edges, occasional creases and short tears.) Original pictorial moiré silk, top edge gilt, others uncut (discoloured, spine frayed and lifting). Provenance: C.W.M. Swithinbank (stamp). AUTHOR'S SIGNED EDITION, NO. 205 OF 1,000 COPIES. Acknowledged by many to be first to discover the North Pole in 1908, Dr. Frederick Albert Cook spent two decades exploring the polar regions.
