Large 2° (620 x 466mm). Engraved title, arms of the dedicatee, Charles IV, a headpiece, 2 initials and a tailpiece, 14 double-page plates by C. Nolli, P. Pozzi, N. Orazi and F. Morghern after Vanvitelli. (A few margins lightly marked, short repaired tear in upper margin of the last plate.) 20th-century mottled half calf (spine somewhat scuffed).
FIRST EDITION of the first part only (all published) of the drawings for the magnificent palace of Caserta which Vanvitelli began in 1752 (but did not complete until 1774) for Charles's son Ferdinand IV.
