Post Lot Text
First edition, issued in parts. The work contains Cauchy's equations for reflection and refraction, a necessary and great pre-Maxwellian effort before physicists became convinced of the impossibility of any elastic light theory. It was published by the Royal Society of Science at Prague (where the author was teaching Charles X's grandson, the Duke of Bordeaux) and distributed in France by De Bure, who was Cauchy's father in law. Fine, complete and uncut set of the parts in the original printed pink wrappers.
