CHALEYER, Louis -- Joseph MAISSIAT and Raymond GUÉLY. Catalogue de la bibliothèque de feu M. Louis Chaleyer, bibliophile forézien. Saint-Étienne, Ch. Boy, 1893.
3 volumes, 8o (225 x 136 mm). (Some browning.) Modern morocco-backed marbled boards, top edge sprinkled, others uncut.
One of 150 copies printed. Chaleyer's collection contained 4,399 printed books, maps, drawings and portraits, and 1,560 manuscripts relating to le Forez, a district of high mountains and plains, now part of the Department of the Loire, in Central France. The printed books were catalogued by Maissiat, and the manuscripts were done by Guély. The introduction by J.-B. Galley provides no biographical information on the collector. The library was acquired by the Public Library of the city of Saint-Étienne, who apparently produced the catalogue. (3)
