According to Charles Curran's record book, this work was executed in his New York studio at 39 West 67th Street in December 1924. The young woman depicted was one of his favorite models, Ruth Jeffrey. Curran used Ruth Jeffrey as his model for a number of years and she appears in many of his well know paintings, including Summer Clouds from 1917 (formerly in the collection of Daniel J. Terra) and After the Storm from 1916-1917.
