CHURCHILL, Sir W.L.S. Autograph letter signed ('W') to Pamela, Countess of Lytton, 28 Hyde Park Gate, London, 10 April 1948, one page, 8°.
A LETTER ACCOMPANYING THE GALLEY PROOFS OF VOLUME I OF HIS THE SECOND WORLD WAR [THE GATHERING STORM], noting that some 'overtake' corrections may have been added to the published edition but that she may keep the proofs. A postscript remarks 'Let me know if you think it all right', and ruefully appropriates a quotation from Burns, 'Now a' is done, & a' is done in vain'.
