VERY RARE CATALOGUES of the publications of the Press of the Roman Congregation concerned with missions to non-Catholic countries. The press is famous for its numerous publications in exotic languages. Among its most noteworthy curios is a Japanese alphabet in wooden blocks, one of the first seen in Europe. The British Museum General Catalogue lists the 1773 edition as its only 18th-century edition. Bigmore and Wyman state that the first catalogue was issued in 1639. (3)
