Engraved map of Asia, on two sheets in separate window mounts, (each sheet approx. 604 x 448mm). Title, dedication and scale bar set in elaborate decorative cartouches. (Slight gum staining along old centrefold lines.)
A FINE LARGE TWO-SHEET MAP OF ASIA BY THE GREATEST EUROPEAN MAPMAKER OF THE LATE 17TH-CENTURY. Coronelli, a Venetian Franciscan priest, set up a school of Geography in Venice to publish maps. His largest atlas, the Atlante Veneto, was issued 1691-96. This attractive map of Asia incorporates the discoveries of Tasman. (2)
