The integral blank pages form the commonplace book of Joseph Crawhall Senior, including 47 ORIGINAL WATERCOLOUR SKETCHES AND CARICATURES BY CRAWHALL with manuscript captions, and approximately 21 pages of manuscript notes, verses and snatches of music by Crawhall, as well as related photographs, cuttings, letters, book-plates, guide-books and sale catalogues, many loosely inserted, including and an AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED FROM JOSEPH CRAWHALL JUNIOR TO HIS FATHER, from Bank, Lyndhurst, Hants., [15 May 1895], 4pp., 8°, sending birthday Provenance: The Crawhall family, by descent; sold by Mr. Crawhall-Wood (grandson of Joseph Crawhall ?Senior) in 1972; acquired by Dr. Dallas Pratt in 1973.
