CUMMINGS, E.E. The Enormous Room. New York: Boni & Liveright, 1922.
8o. Original light brown cloth; pictorial dust jacket, almost entirely UNOPENED. (two small holes on spine panel, few splits along joints, otherwise colors fresh).
FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY CUMMINGS on the front free endpaper. Cummings's first book, a novel about his experiences as a prisoner of war in World War I, is the cause of some book-collecting legend with relation to the offending word "shit" in the last line of p.219. It was widely believed that Boni & Liveright inked out the word in most copies, but in reality the publisher was not especially committed to making the emendation. Firmage A1.
