Contemporary olive green morocco gilt, spine in six compartments, five red morocco onlays within double raised bands; gilt inner dentelles, silk doublures and silk linnings, g.e., binder's ticket "Reli par Bisiaux..." on verso of front free endpaper, with the address altered in ink from "Rue du Foin St. Jacques No 32" to "Rue des Carmes No I," in modern half morocco chemise and slipcase.
Provenance: M.E. Leparmentier-d'Hricy (with inserted letterpress presentation leaf); Mortimer Schiff (bookplate, sale Sotheby's, 6 Dec. 1938, lot 1474 to Dulau); U. Prost (bookplate).
FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, with printed presentation by Cuvier to his patroness, presumably in presentation binding.
