LD: This definitely came from Freddie Wallacki. He always had things that were unusual. I think David Russell Young only made one of each instrument, and he was renowned for his butterfly inlays.
KK: His inlay work and engraving is fabulous. He has the ability to make it look three dimensional. He makes violin bows now.
EC: It's a beautiful thing...
MF: Was it the inlay that would have initially attracted you towards the piece?
David Russell Young is best known to guitar makers as the author of The Steel String Guitar - Construction and Repair. This 1975 book was instrumental in influencing a generation of American luthiers.
The outline of this instrument is strongly influenced by the Dreadnought series of guitars first produced by C.F. Martin and Company.
