(?Lacking genealogical table, small repaired tear to margin of final text leaf of volume I.) A Cosway-style binding in 20th-century dark purple morocco gilt by Bayntun (Riviere), upper cover of volume I with inset original oval portrait miniature of Madame de Sévigné after A. Sandoz, the miniature surrounded by double-fillet gilt border, the outer border of all covers composed from gilt dots, fillets, dot-roll and cornerpieces of semi-naturalistic sprays of lilies, the spines in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and third, the others with repeat alternate design of a spray of gilt lilies, gilt turn-ins, marbled endleaves, gilt edges.
