FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY inscribed by Dennis on the front endpaper: "For Uncle Jamie the father (and grand - father) of us all -- Pat." Dennis' novel was the basis for a play by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, as well as a 1958 film starring Rosalind Russell. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and Russell received one as well for her performance.
