'Three examples of this Medal are known to exist, two in collections in South Africa (Pte. E. Newbold and Pte. F. Winfield, both of which have been verified from the rolls). The third awarded to Pte. W. Grewcock is in the National Army Museum, London.
From information gathered from the local newspaper it has been possible to compile rolls of men belonging to the 1st and 2nd Active Service Sections of the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Derbyshire Regiment who received the Tribute Medal (Appendix 5). It must not be assumed that these rolls are complete but they do at least give some indication of the number of Medals issued. The newspaper accounts of the presentation ceremonies state that the men on parade each were presented with an illuminated address, as well as the Medal. Two different addresses were prepared, one for each Section, and copies of these are included with the respective rolls.'
