Although a fairly tame Disney film, Dick Tracy was marketed with a stress on the well-established exploitation themes of sex and innuendo. The real-life affair between the film's stars Madonna and Warren Beatty, gave a fillip to the campaign. It also imbued this particular poster with sexual undertones that were deliberatly highlighted by an audacious tagline. Ultimately, the poster was judged just a little too risqué for the family-orientated studio and was withdrawn from circulation.
