A similar officer playing the flute and seated on a chair appears in the picture in the Museum der Bildenden Künste, Leipzig (F.G. Meyer, "Een nieuwe kijk op Franchoys Elaut (1589-1635)" in Oud Holland, 1995, no.1-2, p.28, note 29, and in the picture signed and dated 1637, offered at auction in Paris, 4 December 1907, lot 7 (F.G.
