DODOENS, REMBERT. Cruydt-boeck...Item...een beschrivinge van de Indiaensche gewassen meest getrocken wt de schriften van Carolus Clusius, Antwerp: Plantin-Moretus 1644. Large folio, 382 x 250mm., contemporary Dutch blind-ruled vellum over pasteboards, worn, joints cracked, spine torn, minor dampstain to lower outer corner of last 150 pages, inscription on half-title partially erased, otherwise a very good, tall copy. Last and most complete Dutch language edition of Dodoens' Stirpium historiae pemptades sex. Elaborate architectural title-page (with medallion portraits of Dodoens and Clusius) framing scene of a fountain and extensive garden parterres (by W. Swan, first used in the 1608 edition), printed in two columns in roman, italic and lettre bâtarde, eight-line and smaller historiated woodcut capitals, 1470 column-width woodcuts in the text, including appendix of New World and West Indian botany.
