FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, SIGNED BY DU MAURIER on a tipped-in page. In 1940, the book became the basis for a spell-binding film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. The film would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.
