Catalogue of 4000 books printed between 1501-1550 in the celebrated library of Hieronymus (Jobst) Wilhelm Ebner, of Eschenbach, the Nuremberg patrician and diplomat. (see ADB). The catalogue is arranged in four parts in chronological order, and includes an author's index and the end of each part. The title indicates that the large private library, collected at private expense was open to the public "privatis sumptibus in communem usum collecta et observata." A portion of the library appeared in a 1,794 lot sale (see lot 745) catalogue 61 years after Ebner's death. The cataloguer Hirsch was deacon of the church of St. Lawrence in Nuremberg and a writer on the history of Nuremberg. It was intended as a supplement to Maittaire.
