2 volumes, 4° (269 x 200mm.), 16 engraved maps and plates, 2 folding (some maps and leaves with tears and old repairs, occasional spotting, browning and small worm tracks, some pencil scoring, a few leaves partly stuck together), later half cloth (rubbed, upper joint splitting).
Second edition. As a wealthy West Indies merchant, Bryan Edwards condemned the War of Independence and argued for free trade with America. The History, his chief work, contains much information on the slave trade. Sabin 21901; together with Edmund Burke's An Account of the European Settlements in America (London, 1765, 2 vols., lacking a map). (4)
