Lot Essay

We are grateful to Mr. Willem van de Watering for confirming the attribution to Eglon van der Neer. He believes it to be an early work, painted circa 1660, and compares it to the painting that was in the Van Alen Bruguire collection and sold in these Rooms, 5 December 1969, lot 84, which is signed and dated 1662.
