According to the introduction the library "Bibliotheca publica" was founded 1589 following a generous gift of books and cash by Christoph Winer, a school teacher and poet in Eisenach. The catalogue includes 545 descriptions of the books in the library "bibliothecae scholasticae Isenacensis." Christian Junker was director of the gymnasium in Eisenach and became 1712 a member of the Academy of Science in Berlin.
