Early 19th-century brown straight-grained morocco, tooled in gilt and blind (joints very slightly rubbed), edges gilt. EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with 47 engraved illustrations from 17th- and 18th-century editions, a 16th-century full-page portrait of Thomas More, a woodcut from the Ship of Fools, 3 leaves of 'prefatory epistle from Erasmus to Tho. More' from a 17th-century edition. Provenance: John Catley, contemporary signature on title.
