Ferdinand Bellermann (1814-1889)

The study relates to the large canvas 43 x 73¼in. (109.2 x 186.7cm.) signed and dated 1869, for which see Christie's (South Kensington), 28 May 1987, lot 21. The latter may have been Bellermann's large canvas exhibited at the Berlin Academy in 1881 (Abends im Delta des Orinoco).
