4° (267 x 206mm). Hand-coloured aquatint title vignette and 48 plates after Fielding and Walton. (Offsetting of text onto most plates, lacking half-title.) Contemporary blue straight-grained morocco gilt, covers with decorative border in gilt and blind, spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second, the others with repeat decoration of massed small tools, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges (joints worn, extremities rubbed, small chip to head of spine). Provenance: John Rhodes (armorial bookplate).
