FLOWN Apollo XIII cloth crew emblem. 4 in. circular, mounted between 2 paragraphs of an 8.5 x 11 in. letter. [With:] Typed letter signed by Lovell stating: ''...patch was flown ... during the April 11-17, 1970 flight of Apollo XIII. Artist Luman Winter designed the Apollo XIII patch after a mural he painted for the St. Regis Hotel in New York. The mural had four horses with one falling behind. It was quite appropriate because at the last moment Ken Mattingly was replaced on the flight''.
