Contemporary mauve straight-grained morocco by HERING with his ticket, spine panelled in gilt, double gilt line border round sides with decorative cornerpieces, gilt arms on covers, inner gilt decoration, gilt edges (head and foot of spine very lightly rubbed). DOUBLE FORE-EDGE PAINTING depicting in one direction a view of Cromer and, in the other, a view of Whitby. PRESENTATION COPY inscribed by the translator 'To Mrs Hope from his Affectionate friend the Author HCE 1815'; T. H. (blocked initials next to Hering's ticket). ONE OF 100 COPIES.
